Visit pageMood: The past few weeks have brought a mix of anticipation, nerves, and moments of quiet determination. As we face upcoming treatment milestones and adjustments at home, it’s clear that the journey is getting even more real for all of us — Chloë, the girls, Justin, Mom, and me. Yet, through it all, gratitude and resilience continue to carry us forward. 💛
Medical Update: Since Chloë’s discharge following her amputation, it has been a whirlwind of activity. She has now begun outpatient physiotherapy at the Children’s Treatment Centre (part of CHEO), learning to walk with crutches and her walker, and gradually regaining independence. A ramp, which she will need moving forward at home, was installed recently, and she has a new temporary wheelchair until she can be fitted for a more permanent one later this month. This week brought encouraging news: Chloë received the all-clear to resume chemotherapy starting the week of the 17th. Though the schedule remains busy, every step forward — from therapy sessions to home adjustments — is a reminder of her courage, resilience, and the incredible support surrounding her.
Emotional Check-In: As Charlotte recently said, “Ok, now this gets REAL.” Everyone in the family — dogs included — is riding a sea of emotions. Seeing Chloë’s stump, which thankfully had her surgical pump removed after two weeks, has been an even more visceral reminder of how challenging this journey is. Chloë’s hair has begun to regrow since before her surgery, which is encouraging and a sign that, in the end, her hair will return relatively quickly. Yet, she is understandably sad at the thought that she may lose that regrowth once chemotherapy resumes next week. These weeks have been an emotional mix of hope, grief, pride, and fatigue. Even amidst these challenges, Chloë continues to demonstrate remarkable courage and resilience, finding moments of laughter and comfort. The girls support one another beautifully, and the love and encouragement from friends, family, and even strangers continues to remind us that we are not facing this journey alone. 💜
