Visit pageMood: Tired. Tender. Adjusting to the new rhythm of treatment.
Medical Update: Chloë completed her first inpatient chemo cycle this week. The port-a-cath was used for the first time, and we began to understand the logistics of bloodwork, hydration, anti-nausea meds, and monitoring. The side effects started to show—fatigue, queasiness, and a general sense of heaviness. The nurses were attentive and gentle, helping us learn what to watch for and how to manage symptoms at home.
Emotional Check-In: Chloë was quiet and withdrawn at times, which we expected. She was processing everything in her own way. We gave her space, stayed close, and tried to keep things calm. Charlotte was missing her sister and sensing the shift at home. We’re doing our best to keep her grounded while navigating the hospital routine.
Education Update: [No formal update this week.]
Moments of Light: Our friends at Child Life continued to be our anchor of support—bringing Journey Beads, fidget toys, and paper to sketch and paint with. We also continued to familiarise ourselves with the ward upstairs, the family and activity rooms, and the Ronald McDonald House on the 5th floor—a welcome change of scenery when needed.
Reflections: This week was about settling in. The shock is fading, and the routine is beginning. It’s not easy, but it’s ours now—and we’re learning how to live inside it.
💛 Much love,
Chloë’s Mom
