Journey Beads at CHEO

At CHEO, children and families mark their medical journeys with Journey Beads — each one representing a specific experience, procedure, or moment of courage. From bloodwork and chemotherapy to celebrations and quiet victories, these beads form a visual record of strength and healing.

Chloë’s Journey Beads began thanks to a thoughtful Child Life specialist who made sure her name was added to the program. That small act of kindness helped turn a difficult path into something visible, meaningful, and uniquely hers.

The program helps children see how far they’ve come. It turns treatment into storytelling, and each strand becomes a personal tribute to resilience.
